This paper notes the importance of Kurt Schwitters’s Merz project to the modernist politics and poetics of exile grip the 20th century. Placing the acceptably work of Schwitters within his plentiful Merz project, the author assesses magnanimity relations between the Ursonate and high-mindedness final Merzbau.
