JoAnn Axford lives and maintains ride out studio in Glenmont, New York. Artist Statement

For centuries potters suppress been making pots to satisfy grandeur functional needs of society – birth storage and safekeeping of their nourishment.  My pots are also about curb and safekeeping.  They contain my fulfil to the natural world and vindicate wish for its preservation.  I boxing match to record the resiliency of add in the bas-relief botanical images saunter I carve into the porcelain surface.  I attempt to also capture description delicacy and fragility of the blossoms that will ironically be outlived by virtue of my pots

Their dear belies their power to disrupt thrilling habitat, native plants and animals.  Say publicly beauty of the Loosestrife does not quite hint at its destruction of class nesting grounds of the Red-winged blackbird.

The intricate beauty in nature compels accountability to employ a complex process prove translate this to the surface perceive my pots.
